Candle Safety
This morning I was thinking about the number of candles in unsafe locations I have seen lite at parties already this holiday season. As I am one that loves candles both for their scents and for the ambiance they give a room, I thought it might be a good idea to remind us all of the importance of fire safety, particularly when using candles.
A website I enjoy going to, periodically, is the
U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). This morning I looked up what they had to say about candles. While the tips are not new, given by the (CPSC), they are a gentle reminder of how we can keep our home and family safe when using candles.
CPSC's simple safety tips:Keep matches, lighters and candles away from children.
Never leave burning candles unattended.
Keep combustible materials away from candles.
Don't put candles in a location where children or pets could knock them down.
Use only non-flammable candle holders.
Always trim the wicks before lighting.
Did you know approximately 10,000 candle-related fires occur every year.? As you celebrate with your family and friends, keep your home and loved ones safe with these simple tips.
